Disaster Planning: Is It In You?
I'll never forget the scenes in my childhood hometown after Hurricane Charlie's visit in 2004. There in Punta Gorda, Florida, were the horrific signs of that powerful Category 4 hurricane. Roofs without coverings, windows blown out, walls with gaping holes, furniture scattered outside, and telephone poles snapped like toothpicks. Many thousands of people were without electricity and water for days and weeks. Although it was very uncomfortable for everyone, those who had a disaster plan in place were able to manage the aftermath more successfully than those who waited until it was too late. Storms like this, you see, usually happen to someone else.

I'm sure we'd all agree that the only constant in our world is Jesus Christ. Hebrews 13:8 says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." Everything else is changing at an increasingly faster pace, including the technology we use to spread the Good News about Him. The real challenge now is keeping up with all the quickly evolving technologies, and how we can best apply them as channels for the Gospel.

Forgive and Remember, part 2
Most of us have been deeply hurt, rejected, or wronged by someone we trusted. As the book, Forgive to Live points out, everyone has a grievance story. Many of have felt the pressure to forgive and forget. If you are Christian, you have heard that it's what Jesus expects of you. Yet, some are walking around carrying a lot of pain. They don't have a clue about how to really forgive the person who has wronged them, and they can't remember painful events without feelings of bitterness.

Forgive and Remember, part 1
We have often heard the saying, "forgive and forget," but is this really logical? Forgiving does not mean destroying the memory of the past. Rather, it is a conscious refusal to allow the past to absorb one's attention and impede progress. Leaving the past behind is very difficult, but it is possible through the power of God. Listen to one woman’s personal, amazing journey toward forgiving the man who murdered her sister.

Realigning Your Soul
It was a typical busy workday. I’m driving along, minding my own business, when suddenly - a car pulls out from a side road right in front of me. With less than 10 feet to brake, I slam into the side of the car at 40 miles an hour and the hood of my little Honda Civic folds up right to the cabin like an accordion. With no air bag, my head feels like it will come off at the shoulders and fly through the windshield. Instead, it swings wildly down from the steering wheel, and chin meets chest with full force. The moments that follow seem like an eternity, as I realize I’m not dead -- and I’m thankful. But, the journey of chronic pain will last 10 years until God sends a profoundly simple answer.
